DEFINITIONS AND VOCABULARY UNIT 2

The polygons


Start polygon: It's a particular polygon that start form or shape.

Inscribed polygons: They are polygons inside circles. All vertices are place on the circle.

Circumscribed: They are polygons that it inside there is a circle.

Convex polygon: 

Non convex polygon:


Types of polygons:

Equiangular: All corners,angles and vertices are equal.

Equilateral: All edges or sides are of the same lenght.

Regular: All vertices,sides and angles are equal.

Irregular: They are different angles and lenght for their sides.

Parts of polygons:

Side or edge: They are lines segments that form the polygon.

Vertex/Vertices(plural): The point that two sides meet.

Perimeter: It's the path around the polygon.

Center: It's a point that is equal distance to the other vertex.

Apothem: It's the line segment from the center to the mindpoint of the one side.

Diagonal: It's a line segment that connects with vertices:
         -Major diagonal.
         -Minor diagonal.
